Amazon.com Product Description
Essentially a scaled-down motocross bike with an electric motor, the Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket is ideal for teens who want to enjoy the dirt bike experience without breaking the bank. The Dirt Rocket's powerful 500-watt motor carries riders at speeds of up to 17 miles per hour--more than enough for most bumpy dirt trails--and can cruise for up to 10 miles on a single charge. At the same time, the bike's dual suspension and riser handlebars deliver a smooth and comfortable ride regardless of the terrain, so your teen's fun isn't restricted to flat pavement. As a final bonus, the Dirt Rocket's variable-speed, chain-driven motor is extremely quiet, a marked contrast to traditional gas-powered motocross bikes.

Other details include large pneumatic knobby tires for a maximum power transfer, authentic dirt bike frame geometry, a retractable kickstand, and a double-crown fork. The MX500, which requires roughly eight hours to fully charge, is recommended for ages 14 and over and offers a maximum weight limit of 175 pounds. It's also backed by a 90-day warranty.

Product Description
The Razor Dirt Rocket MX500 is a bigger and faster version of the MX350 and is perfect for ages 14 and up. The Razor MX500 carries riders up to 175 pounds at speeds up to 17 mph and is equipped with large 14" and 16" pneumatic knobby tires for maximum power transfer.

The chain-driven, variable speed motor gives the Razor MX500 its kick, but because the bike is electric, the motor is super quiet; a distinct advantage over the other gas-driven and noisy scaled-down dirt bikes. The Razor's front fork is easily assembled; universal flat/Phillips head screwdriver and Allen wrenches are included.

FEATURES:

  • Speeds up to 17 mph
  • Carries riders up to 175 pounds
  • Can travel up to 10 miles on a single charge
  • Large 16" and 14" pneumatic knobby tires geared for dirt
  • Dual suspension and riser handlebars for a smooth and comfortable ride
  • Variable speed, chain-driven motor for super quiet and powerful operation
  • Twist-grip throttle acceleration
  • Double-crown fork
  • Dimensions - 53" x 21" x 31"
  • Up to 40 minutes of riding time on a single charge
  • Battery charge time: up to 8 hours
  • 36V (three 12V) sealed lead acid battery system
  • Powerful 500w electric motor
  • Read and understand the enclosed owner's manual before riding. Safety equipment such as a helmet, elbow and knee pads are recommended. Use this product only in controlled environments free of potential traffic hazards and not on public streets.

5 out of 5 stars SOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   March 27, 2006

Ok here we go. I wrote that review on the Honda Minimoto Dirtbike.I said how it was not good and how I purchased the Go Kart and the Maxxi and they also had problems. Read that review, the title is "TRUST ME READ THIS". I said to myself you know what im going buy the Razor MX500 Dirt Bike. WOW WHAT A GREAT BUY!!!!!! This thing is durable, safe, and fun. I recommend it for ages 8-15 years old. However there are reviews for other razor products about the battery life. Yes the battery life is not good, IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. I followed the directions and my MX500's battery is fantastic. To have a good motor and battery follow these easy steps...
1. Take MX500 out of box CAREFULLY!
2. Assemble in order of the directions (If you follow them it will be assembled in 20 minutes).
3. Turn MX500 on and JUST FOR ONE SECOND TWIST THE THROTTLE just to make sure it works. (Do not ride just a flick of the throttle just to check).
4. Charge the MX500 overnight or for 12 or more hours (The key is to charge it for 12+ hours)
5. Take the charger out and go ride
If you follow these directions given your MX500 will be perfect.

We purchased this electric dirt bike for our son's 13th birthday and it has been a big hit! The bike weighs about 105 lbs. so the most difficult part was getting it out of the box for me to do the minor assembly. Parents don't have to worry that their kids won't get exercise because they have ditched their bicycles because it only runs 45-60 minutes on a charge and takes at least 4 hours to recharge. This doesn't bother my son or his friends as the 45 minutes seems to be enough time to have fun before they are off to something else. I would highly recommend this for a 13 year old that is stuck between the "toy" age and the teen "clothing" age. In two more years he will be in drivers education so we felt this would teach him some of those basic skills of driving.

My friend has the mx500 and I have used it many times and all I can say is it is great. It has smooth acceleration and is almost completly silent. It is powerful enough to take a 120 pound rider up a pretty steep hill. For older riders, I would suggest the mx650 because it is more powerful and can take yo up some pretty steep hills, thus, you can actually use it off-road.

My friend has it. A couple days ago i went to his house and tried it out. 3 words: IT WAS GREAT!!!! It's very smooth and silent, but a VERY good speed. (18 mph) It's very good for offroad but I wouldn't recommend riding it on mud or other slippery stuff, 'cause it might fall on your leg and it wieghs a lot! But here's how I rate it:
Fun: **************************
Toughness:***************
Fun:********************************
Fun:************************************

I also think it's good for younger kids to because my 9 year-old bro rode it too without a problem. It's really easy to control. Hope this info helped ya!
